Indonesia's Kemendikdasmen announces 2026 TKA schedule and disaster protocols
The Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has announced the schedule for the 2026 Academic Ability Test (TKA) for high school, vocational, and equivalent levels. The regular assessment is set to begin on October 26, 2026, divided into two main waves: October 26–29 and November 2–5. Special waves for community learning centers and boarding schools are scheduled for late October and early November.
To ensure student safety, the ministry is providing flexibility for those in disaster-affected areas, such as regions experiencing forest and land fires. Schools in unsafe conditions will not be forced to follow the primary schedule. Instead, students unable to attend due to disasters, illness, or technical issues can participate in makeup sessions, which are scheduled to begin on November 16, 2026.
Additionally, the ministry explained that the TKA will utilize a score scale of 200–800 based on Item Response Theory (IRT). This method accounts for question difficulty and discrimination power rather than simple percentage correct, providing a more accurate measure of academic competence.
