Indonesia Ministry of Public Works accelerates infrastructure recovery in NTT and Aceh
The Indonesian Ministry of Public Works is accelerating infrastructure recovery efforts following earthquake damage in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and implementing disaster resilience measures in Aceh.
In NTT, the Ministry has addressed 1,024 damaged infrastructure sites across eight regencies and cities as of October 5, 2026. Recovery of road, bridge, and water resource networks has reached 100 percent. Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo emphasized the ‘build back better’ principle, ensuring new structures are stronger and more resistant to future seismic activity.
In Aceh, the Ministry is reinforcing the Krueng Tingkeum Bridge in the Kutablang district of Bireuen. This involves constructing riverbank protection spanning 273 meters on the Banda Aceh side and 463 meters on the Medan side to prevent erosion. The project aims to maintain the reliability of this vital corridor for logistics and mobility between Aceh and North Sumatra.
