Indonesia Ministry of Public Works deploys drought relief
Indonesia's Ministry of Public Works is implementing drought relief measures across different regions to address water shortages caused by the dry season.
On Palue Island in Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, the ministry is providing clean water services to six affected villages: Nitunglea, Rokirole, Tuanggeo, Ladolaka, Maluriwu, and Reruwairere. Through the NTT Building, Infrastructure, and Area Management Office, the ministry has deployed a 4,000-liter water tank and 24 public hydrants to ensure basic water needs are met.
In Karawang, West Java, the ministry is focusing on agricultural preservation in the Pakisjaya district. The Citarum River Basin Organization has deployed 20 water pumps to transfer water from the Citarum River and irrigation networks to rice fields in the villages of Solokan, Telukjaya, and Tanahbaru. This intervention aims to support farmers in areas not reached by technical irrigation networks or those facing infrastructure damage.
