Indonesia mobilizes 868 health volunteers for earthquake response in NTT

The Indonesian Ministry of Health has mobilized 868 health volunteers to assist residents affected by the earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). According to spokesperson Widyawati, the volunteers include 366 personnel from the Ministry of Health, with others sourced from NGOs, academia, and other government agencies. The deployment occurred in two batches starting in late August.

Since the earthquake struck on August 15, health authorities have monitored various medical issues in the region. Acute respiratory infections (ISPA) have been the most prevalent, with 25,017 reported cases across several regencies, including Manggarai, Sikka, and Nagekeo. Additionally, there have been 1,573 cases of dermatitis and 1,512 cases of diarrhea reported between August 15 and September 9.
