Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Announces Health Campaign, Waste Removal and Bridge Repair Initiatives

Governor Pramono Anung urged Jakarta residents to become more active and curb the habit of "mager" after a Time Out survey showed the city lagging in pedestrian friendliness. He highlighted the expansion of Car Free Day events and new sidewalk connections across districts, noting his personal routine of jogging, running and walking as a model for citizens.

He set a target to clear the waste pile at the Rusun Waduk Pluit housing complex within eight to ten days, deploying one excavator, three trucks and ten staff, and promising additional resources to speed the cleanup. The accumulation was linked to delays at regional waste‑processing sites.

Anung also announced a special meeting next week to accelerate reconstruction of the Tendean pedestrian bridge, which was severely damaged by a crane truck. The discussion will explore financing beyond the ordinary APBD, including CSR contributions, strategic partnerships, naming‑rights schemes and floor‑area coefficient mechanisms, and will consider legal action against the responsible company.
