Indonesia national football team wins back‑to‑back friendlies, Ole Romeny scores

Indonesia's senior football team recorded consecutive friendly victories in early June 2026. On 5 June the Garuda defeated Oman 3‑0, with goals from Ole Romeny, Justin Hubner and Ragnar Oratmangoen. Four days later, on 9 June, they edged Mozambique 1‑0 thanks to a 12th‑minute strike by Romeny, while goalkeeper Maarten Paes kept a clean sheet.

The wins attracted attention from Dutch media, highlighting the contributions of Dutch‑heritage players such as Maarten Paes, Kevin Diks, Calvin Verdonk and Romeny. Coach John Herdman cited the results as valuable preparation for the 2027 Asian Cup. In parallel, rumours surfaced about Paes' club future: Ajax confirmed interest in Barcelona’s Marc‑Andre ter Stegen, following Fabrizio Romano’s report that the German keeper will leave Barcelona this summer.

These performances have lifted Indonesia to 118th in the FIFA rankings and sparked discussion about the squad’s composition ahead of upcoming tournaments.
