Indonesia Sets 2026 Target of 150,000 for National Internship Program

The Indonesian government announced that registration for the 2026 National Internship Program will run from 15 to 28 July, initially accepting 50,000 applicants. The total target for the year has been raised to 150,000 participants, up from 102,696 in 2025, as part of the Vision Indonesia 2045 agenda to strengthen human‑resource development.

Interns will undertake six‑month placements and receive a stipend equal to the provincial or city minimum wage. The first two waves, involving 65,245 interns and 7,217 mentors, recorded over 84 % satisfaction among both participants and companies, highlighting the program’s perceived value for work experience, networking and job placement.

The Ministry of Labour says the scheme acts as an effective recruitment channel for industry, allowing firms to train and evaluate talent before hiring. Officials stress the need for tighter coordination between government, businesses and educational institutions to convert interns into permanent employees.
