Indonesia PDIP lawmakers dispute school demolition and push school‑based kitchens

Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission XIII from the PDIP, Andreas Hugo Pareira, condemned the demolition of part of SDN Wolomoni in Detusoko, Ende, NTT for the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih (KDMP) project. He questioned whether education should be sacrificed for the cooperative, asking if the school building “must be torn down” to make way for KDMP. The Indonesian army clarified that no soldiers forced a school demolition and that KDMP is being constructed behind, not in place of, the school.

Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission IX from the PDIP, Charles Honoris, urged the National Nutrition Agency to shift the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program to a school‑based kitchen model. He argued that using existing school facilities would lower distribution costs, improve food safety oversight, and involve schools directly in nutrition education.
