Indonesia pet food market trends emphasize specialized feline nutrition
The pet food market in Indonesia is experiencing significant growth, with projections suggesting the market value could reach US$2.33 billion by 2026. Research indicates that 76% of pet lovers in the country own cats, and the feline population is estimated to reach 5.9 million by the end of the year.
In response to this trend, there is an increasing focus on specialized feline nutrition. During the Indonesia International Pet Expo (IIPE) 2026, the brand Cleo hosted a “Know Your Cat, Know Their Nutrition” event to educate owners on tailoring diets to specific needs. Experts emphasized that nutritional requirements vary based on a cat's activity level, body condition, and environment.
Veterinary experts warn that pet owners should not equate a heavy body with good health. Overfeeding without adequate physical activity can lead to obesity, which negatively impacts mobility and long-term quality of life. Proper nutrition must balance proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals according to the cat's age and lifestyle.
