Indonesia police arrest suspects in motorcycle and telecom cable thefts

Police in Jakarta seized a Smith & Wesson pistol, 9 mm ammunition, a Honda Beat motorcycle and other evidence after detaining Tamrin, a suspected member of a motorbike‑theft ring that had operated repeatedly in South Jakarta.

In South Sulawesi, authorities captured 29‑year‑old Muliadi, accused of stealing cables and batteries from multiple telecom towers across several districts. The thefts disrupted internet service and caused estimated material losses of around Rp 24 million.

Both arrests resulted from coordinated operations by regional anti‑crime units, highlighting a pattern of organized theft targeting both vehicles and telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia.
