Indonesia’s PPATK reports 20% drop in online gambling fund turnover

Indonesia’s Financial Transaction Analysis Agency (PPATK) reported that the total value of online gambling (judol) transactions fell by about 20% in 2025, reaching Rp286.84 trillion compared with a peak of Rp359.81 trillion in 2024. Deposit volumes also declined from Rp51.3 trillion to Rp36.01 trillion.

Despite the decline, activity remained significant, with a turnover of Rp40.3 trillion in the first quarter of 2026. PPATK highlighted a shift in payment methods: in 2025, 78.5% of deposits (305.35 million transactions, Rp19.35 trillion) were made via the QRIS digital‑payment system, rising to 88.6% in early 2026. The agency also noted that about 6,300 civil servants from the Ministry of Public Works have been identified as participants in online gambling since 2024.

PPATK warned that the persistence of gambling activity and the evolving use of digital payment channels require continued monitoring and stronger verification of merchants and financial service providers.
