Indonesia prepares 1 million tons of subsidized rice for traditional markets
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan has announced the preparation of 1 million tons of subsidized rice to be distributed through traditional and official markets in various regions. This initiative aims to provide affordable, high-quality rice to social groups in deciles 5 through 7, helping to mitigate the impact of high prices caused by the dry season.
Through Bulog, the subsidized rice will be sold at Rp12,500 per kilogram, which is lower than the market price of approximately Rp15,000. This market operation is intended to stabilize food prices and ensure availability for households. Additionally, the government has previously prepared 1 million tons of rice specifically for 33.2 million beneficiaries in deciles 1 through 4.
