John Herdman trims Indonesia squad; Persib and Persija provide most players for AFF 2026

Coach John Herdman announced a 50‑player wider squad for Indonesia’s AFF 2026 campaign, with a training camp in Bali from 5 July. The two traditional powerhouses, Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta, each supplied eleven players, making them the largest contributors to the national pool. Notable club‑sourced names include goalkeeper Teja Paku Alam, midfielder Adam Alis and striker Ragnar Oratmangoen from Persib, and defender Rizky Ridho, midfielder Jordi Amat and forward Dony Tri Pamungkas from Persija.

The squad also features five overseas‑based players such as defender Justin Hubner (Fortuna Sittard) and midfielder Marselino Ferdinan (Oxford United). After the Bali camp, Herdman will cut the list to the tournament‑allowed 26 players, meaning 24 of the original 50 will be excluded. Media in Vietnam highlighted Indonesia’s strong naturalised contingent, noting the potential for eleven naturalised players to feature.

Persib’s coach Igor Tolić warned the club could be without those eleven internationals for the domestic President’s Cup, while the national team prepares for group‑stage matches beginning 24 July.
