Indonesia prioritizes tourism ecosystems and blue carbon management

Indonesia's Minister of National Development Planning, Rachmat Pambudy, has emphasized the importance of developing comprehensive ecosystems to support both the tourism and environmental sectors.

Regarding tourism, Pambudy stated that Bappenas is committed to supporting the entire ecosystem, including sport tourism, to ensure the industry drives economic impact. He noted that tourism success depends on factors beyond the Ministry of Tourism, such as security, cleanliness, and the availability of food and water.

Simultaneously, the government has launched the 2026-2045 Blue Carbon Ecosystem Protection and Management Roadmap. This initiative shifts Indonesia's climate strategy toward a holistic land-and-ocean approach. The roadmap aims to manage the country's significant mangrove and seagrass resources to enhance climate resilience, protect coastal communities, and unlock new investment opportunities through 2045.
