Indonesia probes misuse of regional funds amid corruption raids

In Central Sulawesi, the vice‑governor ordered heads of regional agencies to report the use of APBN decentralised funds after only 25 % of the Rp55.55 billion budget was absorbed by the end of the second quarter, warning that unspent money could be reclaimed by the central government. At the same time, prosecutors in Tulungagung, East Java, raided the regional finance office and the tourism department, seizing documents related to a 2022 land acquisition alleged to involve inflated prices and missing usage rights. Both incidents highlight intensified scrutiny of local government financial management and possible corruption in Indonesian provinces.
