Indonesia promotes circular economy through waste management initiatives

Various regional initiatives in Indonesia are promoting circular economy models by converting waste into economic resources. In Yogyakarta, a program involving PLN EPI and PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna utilizes Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots to process organic waste. This process produces organic fertilizer and liquid fertilizer, providing environmental benefits and increasing community income through the Ngupadi Rejeki Karangasem Waste Bank.

In Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, the local government has launched the RAMAH movement (Rabu Amal Sampah). This initiative encourages civil servants and the public to collect and sort plastic waste, specifically plastic bottles, every Wednesday. The goal is to foster behavioral changes in waste management and reduce the volume of waste sent to landfills by treating plastic as a source of economic value.
