Indonesia promotes creative economy as global soft power

Indonesia's Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, is promoting the “Nusantara Rising: Indonesia Collective Soft Power Movement” launched by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). The initiative aims to transform Indonesia's cultural wealth, talents, and creative works—including music, film, animation, and games—into a global economic force and soft power, rather than just a consumer market for global content.

To support this, the Ministry is looking to facilitate content creators through co-production and co-investment schemes to improve access to capital, technology, and international markets. This aligns with the Creative Economy Master Plan directed by President Prabowo Subianto.

In a related regional effort, the Batu City Government met with Minister Harsya to strengthen its local creative ecosystem. Mayor Nurochman presented the “Batu Agrocreative” concept, which integrates agriculture, food products, local creativity, and tourism. The goal is to leverage Batu's high tourism numbers to drive economic growth and job creation through gastronomy and green tourism.
