Indonesia promotes experiential and green tourism development
Stakeholders in the Indonesian tourism industry are focusing on the development of experiential and sustainable tourism. The ITMO 2027 forum highlighted the trend of experiential tourism, which aims to create an ecosystem connecting destinations, culture, local communities, and businesses to provide authentic and personal experiences for travelers.
Fadli Fahmi Ali, CEO and Co-Founder of Werkudara Group, emphasized transforming cultural and natural assets into high-value experiences. The group focuses on comprehensive experiences through corporate events, wellness retreats, and creative content, such as integrating traditional elements like the Yogyakarta 'Tenongan' into cultural offerings.
In East Jakarta, the local government is promoting environmental awareness through the planned 'Green Tourism Festival' 2026. Mayor Munjirin stated that the initiative aims to develop tourism destinations—including Taman Mini Indonesia Indah and Cibubur City Forest—while prioritizing environmental preservation and local community involvement. The festival seeks to foster collaboration between the government, businesses, and the younger generation to ensure sustainable and eco-friendly tourism growth.
