Indonesia promotes MSME growth through market modernization and digital integration

Indonesian government agencies are implementing initiatives to modernize traditional markets and expand market access for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

In Banyumas, the local government launched the Sokaraja People's Market Festival to promote modernization and economic ecosystem strengthening. Key developments at the market include the launch of a market cooperative, the implementation of QRIS for digital transactions in collaboration with Bank Jateng, and digital sales integration through GrabMart. The initiative aims to improve the image of traditional markets by making them cleaner, more comfortable, and modern.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Community Empowerment, in collaboration with Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), held the ‘1001 People's Market’ program and a social media optimization workshop in Bogor. This program aims to connect local products with broader markets by utilizing media networks. The event included a bazaar for 55 curated MSMEs and capacity-building workshops for 100 business owners to foster economic independence.
