Indonesia promotes skilled migrant worker placement in global airport and industrial sectors
The Indonesian Ministry of Migrant Worker Protection is actively working to expand international employment opportunities for skilled Indonesian workers. During a visit to the Injourney Airport Learning Centre (IALC) in Tangerang, Deputy Minister Christina Aryani highlighted the potential for Indonesian workers to fill strategic roles in international airport sectors, particularly in Middle Eastern countries such as Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, as well as in Japan.
To support this initiative, the ministry aims to collaborate with training institutions like IALC to design competency programs tailored to global market needs. This effort aligns with government directives to upgrade the professional status of migrant workers through programs like ‘SMK Go Global’.
In a related development, the P4MI Karimun office facilitated the departure of seven skilled Indonesian workers to Serbia. These workers, qualified as welders and fitters, are part of a movement to meet technical labor demands in Central Europe. The government emphasized its commitment to ensuring that such placements are transparent, legal, and include comprehensive protection for workers from departure to return.
