Indonesia proposes toll‑road tariff hikes for 52 sections while limiting new road construction in 2027

The Ministry of Public Works' toll‑road agency (BUJT) has asked the legislature to approve higher user fees on 52 toll‑road sections across the country, citing ongoing upgrades. Director Dedy Gunawan listed corridors such as Pemalang‑Batang, Pandaan‑Malang, Padalarang‑Cileunyi, Jagorawi, the outer‑city ring road (JORR) and Probolinggo‑Banyuwangi. The ministry said it will first assess whether each segment meets minimum service standards before any increase takes effect.

Separately, the Directorate General of Highways set a target to build only 12.27 km of new toll road in 2027 due to a limited fiscal envelope. The 2027 budget proposal allocates Rp 29.24 trillion for national road and bridge programmes, with most funds earmarked for preserving existing infrastructure. Commission V of the DPR urged the ministry to prioritise maintenance over new construction, and Director‑General Roy Rozali said the plan will be refined accordingly.
