Indonesia pushes draft Asset Seizure Law forward with public input
Member of Indonesia's House of Representatives Nasyirul Falah Amru (Gus Falah) urged that a testing mechanism for asset seizure actions be included in the draft Asset Seizure Law (RUU Perampasan Aset). He argued the procedure should be treated as a "pra‑judicial" review, separate from the pre‑trial provisions of the criminal procedure code, and that it must assess both formal and material aspects to protect constitutional rights.
Commission III Chair Habiburokhman said the commission is accelerating the drafting of the law and is actively gathering public feedback. During the parliamentary recess, the commission visited North Kalimantan, North Maluku and Central Papua to collect community aspirations and consulted senior lawyers, aiming to create a comprehensive, legally certain framework for asset recovery and crime prevention.
