Indonesia repatriates 43,671 migrant workers facing issues abroad

The Indonesian Ministry of Migrant Worker Protection (KP2MI) has facilitated the repatriation of 43,671 Indonesian migrant workers facing issues abroad over the past two years. According to Minister Mukhtarudin, the highest numbers of repatriated workers came from Malaysia and Cambodia, followed by various countries in Asia and the Middle East.

Reasons for repatriation include deportation due to overstaying or legal violations, termination of employment contracts, work-related accidents, and physical or psychological health issues. Additionally, the government facilitated the return of 1,234 deceased migrant workers to their families.

In a separate initiative, Deputy Minister Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla oversaw the departure of 37 vocational school graduates participating in the ‘SMK Go Global’ program. These workers, trained as mechanical machinery assemblers, are headed to Saudi Arabia. The program includes English language certification to ensure workers can acquire technical knowledge and skills to bring back to Indonesia.
