Indonesia requests removal of Hornet app from Play Store and App Store

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) has requested that Google and Apple remove the Hornet application from the Play Store and App Store for users in Indonesia.

The ministry cited public complaints regarding the platform’s association with LGBTIQ+ campaigns, stating that such content conflicts with local values, norms, and legal provisions.

Additionally, officials noted that Hornet has failed to comply with national regulations by not registering as an Electronic System Provider (PSE) in Indonesia. Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, emphasized that all digital platforms operating within the country must respect local laws and fulfill mandatory registration requirements.
