Indonesian regulatory action against Hornet app

Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi/Komdigi) has requested that Google and Apple delist the Hornet application from the Play Store and App Store for users within the country.

The ministry cited two primary reasons for the request. First, officials noted public complaints regarding the platform’s association with LGBTIQ+ campaigns, stating such content conflicts with local values, norms, and legal provisions. Second, the ministry identified a failure to comply with national regulations, as Hornet has not registered as an Electronic System Provider (PSE) in Indonesia.

Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision, emphasized that all digital platforms operating in the country must respect local laws and fulfill mandatory registration requirements. Officials indicated that the government will continue to monitor and process other platforms providing similar services.
