Indonesia Secures Solar Fuel Subsidy for Fishermen

The Indonesian government is providing a targeted subsidy for solar fuel used by fishermen operating vessels of 30–200 gross tons. Under the plan, the price of solar will be set at Rp15,000 per litre, with a subsidy of about Rp3,600 per litre financed by the Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP) rather than the state budget. The subsidy covers a quota of 400,000 tonnes for the next six months and will be implemented through a regulation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Member of the House of Representatives Ahmad Labib (Golkar) reiterated that the supply of subsidised fuel and LPG in Gresik remains secure. He said the government, Pertamina and local cooperatives are strengthening solar distribution for fishermen, with no price increase for Pertalite and a focus on future transition to compressed natural gas (CNG). Labib emphasized that the subsidy aims to keep energy costs stable for fishermen and support the regional economy.
