Indonesia sees decline in key agricultural commodity prices

In Sentani's Pharaa market, sellers reported that tomato prices fell to Rp20,000 per kilogram, down from Rp50,000 a week earlier. Red onion dropped to Rp65,000 per kilogram from Rp95,000, while bird's eye chili fell to Rp85,000 per kilogram from Rp150,000. Dried chili fell to Rp60,000 per kilogram from Rp100,000, and garlic rose slightly to Rp65,000 per kilogram from Rp55,000. Vendors linked the price drops to reduced demand during school holidays.

National data from the Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) of Bank Indonesia recorded bird's eye chili at Rp58,150 per kilogram, eggs at Rp29,000 per kilogram, red onion at Rp44,550 per kilogram, and garlic at Rp44,050 per kilogram. Rice prices ranged from Rp14,650 to Rp17,650 per kilogram across quality grades. Chicken meat was priced at Rp38,350 per kilogram, beef between Rp142,350 and Rp150,500 per kilogram, and sugar and cooking oil prices were also listed.
