Indonesia sees onion price drop in Ambon amid fresh supply, national food price index updates

The price of red onion in Ambon's Pasar Mardika fell to 40,000 IDR per kilogram after a new shipment from Surabaya was distributed to local traders, down from 45,000 IDR the day before. Vendors said the steady inflow of stock from outside Maluku has normalized supply and eased the cost burden for households.

The national Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS), managed by Bank Indonesia, reported wholesale prices across the country, listing red onion at 42,150 IDR per kilogram and garlic at 42,700 IDR per kilogram. The same bulletin included prices for other staples such as chili, eggs, rice, meat, sugar and cooking oil.
