Indonesia sees rise in rice and onion prices as egg and chicken costs fall
Bank Indonesia's Pusat Informasi Harga Pangan Strategis (PIHPS) reported that lower‑grade rice (type I) rose 400 rupiah to 15,150 per kg and type II rose 350 rupiah to 14,900 per kg, while medium‑grade rice fell slightly. Red onion prices increased 1,100 rupiah to 41,900 per kg and garlic rose 1,050 rupiah to 43,150 per kg.
Eggs were priced at 29,650 rupiah per kg and chicken meat at 39,900 rupiah per kg; a separate PIHPS release noted chicken meat falling 1,850 rupiah to 37,700 per kg. Beef, sugar, and cooking oil showed mixed movements. Analysts expect July 2026 inflation to slow to 0.03 % month‑on‑month, with annual inflation projected around 3.06 % year‑on‑year.
