Indonesia sees sharp rise in chili and chicken prices on July 31, 2026

Indonesia's food market recorded notable price hikes on 31 July 2026. Red curly chili rose 4.65 % to Rp48,400 per kilogram, while large red chili increased 2.7 % to Rp49,450/kg. Red raw chili (bird's eye) climbed 2.02 % to Rp55,500/kg, and green raw chili rose 0.68 % to Rp52,200/kg. Chicken meat prices rose 2.05 % to Rp39,900/kg, with egg prices up 0.17 % to Rp29,650/kg. Rice of lower quality (type II) increased 0.34 % to Rp14,600/kg, and beef prices edged up marginally. The data come from the National Strategic Food Price Information Center (PIHPS) of Bank Indonesia, reflecting broader inflationary pressure on staple commodities across Jakarta markets.
