Indonesia sees surge in rail and road travel during school holidays

During the first weekend of July 2026, PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung recorded a peak of 45,025 railway passengers, the highest in the school‑holiday period. Manager Kuswardojo said, "Weekend pertama Juli menjadi puncak jumlah pelanggan selama periode liburan sekolah," highlighting growing public confidence in rail service.

In the second week of the holidays (26 June–6 July), traffic on the Cikopo‑Palimanan toll road rose more than 40 percent above normal levels, with a cumulative 790,000 vehicles in ten days. Astra Toll Cipali’s Ardam Rafif Trisilo noted, "Angka itu meningkat lebih dari 40 persen dibandingkan kondisi lalin normal," and reported a daily peak of about 94,000 vehicles on 5 July.

Both transport modes experienced notably higher usage as Indonesians traveled for leisure, family visits, and business during the school break.
