Indonesia sees two serious house fires on July 28, 2026

On July 28, 2026, two separate houses in Central Java and East Java ignited, causing extensive material loss but no deaths. In Karanganyar Regency, a home belonging to 65‑year‑old Tanem was engulfed after a fire, suspected to have started when his grandson played with a match. The blaze destroyed furniture, valuable documents, jewelry and about 500 kg of dry rice. Tanem, who lives alone, was evacuated to his sister’s house while fire crews contained the flames.

In Mojokerto Regency, the residence of Khoirul Anam was consumed by fire in the early morning, with investigators pointing to a possible electrical short circuit in a fan or refrigerator as the cause. Anam was away buying cigarettes when the fire broke out. The blaze damaged most of the house’s interior, ruined appliances and important paperwork, and the estimated damage is around 30 million Indonesian rupiah.
