Indonesia shifts investment focus to ecosystem-driven industrial zones and digital gold

Investors in Indonesia are changing the criteria they use to select industrial sites. Developers say that beyond land price and construction speed, buyers now weigh logistics connectivity, reliable utilities, and a supportive business ecosystem. The trend is driven by new inflows into electric‑vehicle, electronics, data‑center and export‑oriented manufacturing, with interest from China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

At the same time, the rise of financial‑technology platforms is reshaping gold investing. Digital gold lets Indonesians purchase grams of 24‑carat gold via smartphone apps with a minimum purchase of around IDR 10,000, offering instant liquidity and custodial storage. While it lowers entry barriers and eliminates the need for physical safekeeping, investors remain dependent on the credibility of the digital provider and face different inheritance procedures compared with physical bullion.
