Indonesia's IHSG index rises 4.90% amid heavy foreign selling

The Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) strengthened by 4.90% during the trading week of October 19–23, 2026, closing at the 5,439 level. This growth occurred despite significant capital outflows from foreign investors, who recorded net sales totaling between Rp6.67 trillion and Rp8.73 trillion in the regular market.

Major banking stocks, including PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI), dominated transaction values. While the index rebounded from previous lows, market analysts are monitoring several key factors for the upcoming week, including the release of quarterly financial reports from major banks, Federal Reserve interest rate policies, and geopolitical developments in the Middle East affecting energy prices.

Additionally, the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) reported a growing IPO pipeline with nine companies currently in queue, led by the healthcare sector. Meanwhile, PT Timah Tbk (TINS) is reportedly considering a share buyback as part of its corporate strategy to strengthen business fundamentals amid global tin price dynamics.
