Indonesia Stock Exchange to lower minimum stock price to Rp1
The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) is implementing significant regulatory changes to its capital market, effective September 28, 2026. A primary component of this reform is the reduction of the minimum stock price from Rp50 to Rp1 per share in the regular and cash markets. This move aims to improve price discovery quality, increase market liquidity, and provide investors with greater portfolio management flexibility.
Additionally, the exchange is restructuring its auto-rejection classifications in two stages. The first stage begins on September 28, 2026, and runs through December 31, 2026. The second stage, starting January 1, 2027, will symmetrize the lower auto-rejection limit (ARB) with the upper auto-rejection limit (ARA). This symmetrization represents a normalization of policy following previous adjustments made during market volatility.
Furthermore, BEI will announce a list of eligible short-selling securities on September 28, with trading scheduled to commence on October 1, 2026. BEI President Director Jeffrey Hendrik noted that the initial phase of short selling will be limited to approximately three to five stocks within the LQ45 index.
