Indonesia strengthens migrant worker protection and training
Indonesian officials are emphasizing the need for enhanced protection and human resource preparation for Indonesian migrant workers. Deputy Minister of Migrant Worker Protection Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla visited the BP3MI Lampung office to stress the importance of service quality and official integrity. He noted that the state’s presence must be felt through the services provided to migrant workers and called for stronger coordination between central and local governments to ensure integrated handling of worker issues.
In a separate initiative, Minister Mukhtarudin has urged local governments and universities, specifically in Central Kalimantan, to strengthen human resource development. This effort aims to prepare a productive workforce capable of meeting global market demands. The Minister highlighted that Indonesia’s demographic bonus can only be an asset if the productive-age population possesses the technical skills and mental readiness required for international employment, warning that a lack of competence could lead to social and economic challenges.
