Indonesia strengthens SME competitiveness through partnerships and technology

Indonesian government agencies are implementing initiatives to bolster the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs/IKM) in both domestic and digital markets.

The Ministry of Industry is focusing on expanding partnerships between small industries and large corporations to integrate them into national and global supply chains. This includes promoting green industry principles and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards. A recent collaboration involving PT Daya Intiguna Yasa Tbk (MR. DIY Indonesia) and PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk provided training on financial management and sustainable business practices for small business owners.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Trade is working with Lazada Indonesia to help MSMEs navigate digital commerce. Through the Kolaboraksi #2 program, the government is emphasizing the importance of business legality and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI). These efforts aim to build consumer trust and prepare small businesses for increased transaction volumes during major digital shopping events.
