Indonesia Supreme Court holds final interviews for 23 judicial candidates

On August 3‑7, 2026, the Judicial Commission (Komisi Yudisial) in Jakarta conducted the open‑ended final interview stage for 23 candidates seeking appointment to Indonesia’s Supreme Court (Mahkamah Agung) and its ad‑hoc benches. The pool includes 19 prospective Supreme Court justices, two ad‑hoc judges for human‑rights cases, and two ad‑hoc judges for corruption cases.

The interview, chaired by Commission head Abdul Chair Ramadhan, follows earlier quality tests (May 5‑6) and health/personality assessments (June‑July). It aims to evaluate candidates’ experience, competence, integrity, independence, leadership and commitment to justice. After the interviews, the Commission will decide which candidates fill the 11 permanent Supreme Court seats—covering civil, criminal, religious, and tax chambers—and the three ad‑hoc positions.
