Indonesia targets 6 percent economic growth by 2027

The Indonesian government is aiming to achieve a 6 percent national economic growth rate by 2027. To reach this goal, the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs plans to replicate the success of specific regions that have demonstrated high growth, particularly those with strong manufacturing and processing industries.

Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) shows that 99 regencies and cities recorded economic growth above 6 percent in the first half of 2026. For example, Sidenreng Rappang in South Sulawesi achieved 6.85 percent growth driven by agricultural productivity and porang processing industries. Some regions have even exceeded 8 percent growth due to manufacturing activity.

To support this trajectory, the government is implementing policies to protect consumer purchasing power and promote financial inclusion. Planned initiatives include rice assistance for 33.24 million beneficiaries, wage subsidies for 13.3 million workers, and expanded bank account access for vulnerable populations. Additionally, the 2027 agenda includes vocational training for 300,000 people, internship programs, and potential income tax reductions for workers earning less than Rp10 million per month.
