Indonesia targets zero over-dimension trucks on tolls by 2026

PT Jasa Marga Transjawa Tol held a two‑day education campaign on the Jakarta‑Cikampek toll at kilometer 29 A, briefing drivers of over‑dimension, over‑load (ODOL) trucks about safety rules, vehicle weight checks and compliance with legal size limits. The initiative, coordinated with police and the Bekasi Transportation Agency, aims to improve road safety and protect toll‑road infrastructure.

Government data cited by the Ministry of Public Works shows that ODOL trucks continue to dominate toll traffic, with about 35,498 such vehicles per day on the Trans‑Sumatra toll and roughly 3,342 per day on Jasa Marga‑managed roads, representing 17.62 % of non‑class‑1 traffic on Jasa Marga routes. Officials warn that ODOL trucks accelerate pavement wear, raise maintenance costs, cause congestion, increase fatality risk in accidents and boost emissions. The government plans to eliminate ODOL trucks from all tolls by 2026, urging stricter enforcement and continued driver education.
