Indonesia to Cut Hajj Fees and Shorten Waiting Period for 2027
Indonesia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, led by Minister Mochammad Irfan Yusuf (Gus Irfan), announced plans to lower the cost of the Hajj pilgrimage for the 2027 season and to reduce the current waiting time, which can reach up to 26 years. The proposal was presented after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto and members of parliament in Hambalang, and will be discussed with the DPR for possible approval. The government aims to improve Hajj services and make the pilgrimage more affordable for Indonesian pilgrims.
The initiative reflects a broader effort to streamline the Hajj process and address long‑standing concerns about high fees and lengthy queues for the annual pilgrimage.
