Indonesia to grant Rp1 million monthly allowance to non‑civil servant religious teachers
The Indonesian government plans to raise the monthly welfare allowance for non‑civil servant religious teachers—including Madrasah Diniyah, Taman Pendidikan Al‑Qur’an and pesantren instructors—to roughly Rp1.2 million per month. The proposal, put forward by Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission VIII Abdul Wachid, seeks an Rp6.7 trillion budget allocation in the 2027 state budget to ensure the aid reaches teachers listed in the Ministry of Religion’s database.
Separately, legislators have raised concerns that many religious teachers have not received their certification allowances for seven months, extending into mid‑2026. Deputy Chairman of DPR Commission X MY Esti Wijayati reported delays in several regions and urged an evaluation of the distribution mechanism to prevent recurring payment gaps and protect teachers’ welfare.
