Indonesia to revitalize 1,487 schools in earthquake-hit NTT
The Indonesian Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has committed to revitalizing 1,487 schools in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) following recent earthquake damage. Minister Abdul Mu'ti announced that approximately Rp1.2 trillion (US$67 million) has been allocated to repair severely damaged infrastructure and classrooms that are currently using temporary structures.
This initiative is part of the Prabowo Subianto administration’s national school revitalization program, which aims to ensure adequate facilities across the country by 2029. The ministry has already distributed Rp860 million in initial emergency relief to dozens of affected schools.
In addition to government efforts, PT Patra Jasa is providing humanitarian aid and educational support to the region. The company has donated classroom equipment, such as desks, chairs, and whiteboards, as well as school uniforms and clothing. Employees have also volunteered on-site to assist with food distribution, clean water supply, and trauma healing activities for children.
