Indonesia braces for fog, rain and heat in BMKG forecasts for Aug 7 2026

The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) released a series of regional weather forecasts for Friday, 7 August 2026. In South Bengkulu the agency warned of fog and smoke, urging residents to stay alert while outdoors. In the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) light rain was possible in Depok, Bogor and parts of Tangerang later in the day. Central Papua was forecast to receive moderate to heavy rain. In the Malang Raya region a cold “bediding” phenomenon was expected, with temperatures dropping to 13 °C in Batu and a mix of fog and cooler air throughout the day. Across Central Java, including popular tourist sites such as Borobudur, Lawang Sewu and Gedong Songo, the outlook was mainly clear to partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 16 °C to 34 °C, though fire‑risk warnings were issued due to dry conditions. The forecasts also highlighted maritime concerns such as strong winds and wave heights along the central Java coast. BMKG advised the public to monitor updates and avoid activities that could trigger forest fires or be unsafe in changing weather.
