Indonesia Traffic Police and Jasa Marga Coordinate Holiday Traffic and Overload Policy

Indonesia’s traffic police chief, Irjen Wibowo, met with Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono and senior officials at the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta. The discussion focused on joint coordination for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holiday period (Nataru), aiming to manage the expected surge in vehicle movements on major toll corridors.

Key agenda items included the rollout of a Zero Over‑Dimension Over‑Loading (ODOL) policy slated for early next year, the acceleration of operational technology integration on toll lanes, and updates on new toll‑road sections from Central Java to Yogyakarta and supporting access routes in East Java. The officials emphasized balancing enforcement with economic considerations and involving upstream stakeholders such as transport operators to ensure the policy’s effectiveness without adverse impacts on the public.

The meeting underscored the need for continued collaboration between Polri’s traffic unit and Jasa Marga to alleviate congestion, especially on routes serving tourist destinations and ports like Ketapang, Banyuwangi.
