Indonesia transport updates: LRT Jabodebek hits passenger record and Danantara pushes EV adoption

LRT Jabodebek recorded a monthly passenger milestone in July 2026, serving 3,060,436 passengers. This represents a 21% increase compared to the same period in 2025, with cumulative ridership reaching over 19 million since January 1, 2026. Harjamukti station emerged as the busiest hub, recording over 705,000 users during the month.

In a separate development regarding national transport ecosystems, the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) is collaborating with ride-hailing platforms Gojek and Grab to accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption. The initiative, part of the National Electric Motor Development (Molinas) program, also involves discussions with Pos Indonesia and J&T to integrate EVs into the logistics sector. The shift to electric motorcycles is expected to reduce daily operational costs for drivers by approximately Rp10,000 to Rp20,000.
