Indonesia U-19 meets Vietnam in crucial AFF group showdown

Indonesia’s under‑19 national team and Vietnam U‑19 enter their final Group A match of the 2026 AFF U‑19 Championship level on points, each with six from two games. Vietnam leads the group on goal difference (+8 versus Indonesia’s +6) after 3‑0 victories over Timor Leste and Myanmar’s 5‑0 win over Myanmar. The decisive encounter is scheduled for Sunday, 7 June 2026, at Stadion Utama Sumatera Utara in Deli Serdang and will be broadcast live on Vidio and Indosiar.

A win would crown Indonesia group champions and guarantee a semifinal berth; a draw could still see the team progress as one of the best runner‑ups, depending on other results. Historical head‑to‑head data show Indonesia has won only two of seven meetings with Vietnam, while Vietnam has four wins and one draw, giving Indonesia a 28.5 % predicted chance of victory. Coach Nova Arianto, who previously led a youth side to a 5‑0 win over Vietnam in the 2024 AFF U‑16 tournament, will look to repeat that success with key players such as Putu Panji, Evandra Florasta, Welber Jardim and Arkhan Kaka.
