Indonesian Vice President Gibran Declares Development Shift from Java‑Centric to Indonesia‑Centric

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka said Indonesia’s development agenda is no longer centred on Java but is now Indonesia‑centric. He made the statement while opening the 2026 National Church Choir Festival in Manokwari, West Papua, noting projects such as the Trans‑Papua road, new hospitals, people’s schools, fishermen’s villages and the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme.

Gibran also pledged to improve the governance of the MBG programme and the Red‑White Village Cooperative (KDMP) to curb corruption, ensure funds reach intended beneficiaries and restore public trust. He linked these reforms to stronger fiscal capacity and greater market confidence. During his recent working visits to East Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo and Papua, Gibran travelled with five university students to monitor implementation of these programs.
