BMKG forecasts widespread cloud cover, rain and heat across Indonesia

The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued weather forecasts for many regions of the country for late July 2026. In Ambon and Bengkulu Tengah, conditions are expected to be mostly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 26 °C to 30 °C and high humidity. Yogyakarta provinces see mostly sunny skies but a “fog‑gy” phenomenon in Sleman and the city of Yogyakarta that could reduce visibility, with temperatures up to 31 °C. The greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) is forecast to be partly cloudy to heavily overcast, with the Bogor district at risk of light rain in the afternoon. Sumatra’s western provinces (including Sumatra Barat and Sumatra Utara) anticipate light to moderate rain and, in some coastal areas, a high‑wave warning. In Central Java and the Malang region, the outlook is largely sunny, though several high‑altitude districts may experience dense morning fog that clears by mid‑day. Across several provinces, temperatures are expected to vary between 17 °C and 32 °C, with humidity often exceeding 80 %. BMKG advised the public to stay hydrated, use sun protection, and monitor updates, especially drivers in fog‑prone and rain‑affected districts. The agency also noted ongoing severe drought conditions in parts of West Java, with water‑supply shortages affecting thousands of residents.
