Indonesia weather forecast shows sunny skies and regional disaster warnings
The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued widespread weather forecasts across Indonesia for mid-August 2026. Much of the country is expected to experience sunny to partly cloudy conditions, though specific regional variations exist.
In Central Java, temperatures are expected to reach up to 34°C, leading authorities to warn of increased risks for forest and land fires due to the dry season. Conversely, West Sumatra faces warnings for potential floods and landslides in areas with steep topography due to predicted moderate to heavy rainfall.
Other regional updates include:
• Maluku: A mix of sunny and cloudy conditions across various regencies. • Bengkulu Selatan: Hazy conditions are expected in several districts, with light rain possible in Kedurang and Ulu Manna. • Malang Raya: Predominantly sunny weather, though some areas may experience haze or fog at night. • Eastern Indonesia: Light rain is possible in regions including Ambon, Jayapura, and Palu.
Atmospheric dynamics, such as wind convergence, are contributing to cloud growth and potential rainfall in several provinces, including Aceh, parts of Kalimantan, and Sulawesi.
